'Kip Fenn - Reflections' is the fictional autobiography of a man who lives a 100 years, from 29 December 1999 to January 2100. It foretells a dark political and social future for this world (although not without strong expressions of hope towards the end).
There is no other fictional work about the near future anything like 'Kip Fenn - Reflections'
Kip Fenn's career, which eventually leads him to be appointed Director General of a major (but fictional) UN agency, sees him involved in, and affected by, the defining issues of the time - climate change, the rich/poor divide, internet regulation and pornography, social disorder, cloning and euthanasia.
'Kip Fenn - Reflections' is a unique fictional attempt to put important issues of today into the context of tomorrow.
But, this is also a personal story, the reflections of a man, evidently successful in his chosen career but weak in his personal relationships. At least half of the book is taken up with stories about his three partners (not shying away from matters intimate), five children, friends and interests (including volleyball and 19th century photographs). These stories weave through Kip Fenn's life and thus through the novel in a realistic satisfying way, largely driven by the characters themselves or the events around them.
